Has anyone been to this new place Chunky’s? I guess the two-word elevator pitch would be “Indoor Drive-In”. There’s one in Pelham and one in Haverill. I’m seriously considering getting a dog team, a compass and a flare gun together to see if I can go find one of these joints. It’s like Chuck E. Cheese with a DUI.
Well what we do here at Chunky’s is pretty amazing. First, we seat you at a table in one of our spacious cinemas. Depending on the cinema your movie is playing in, our tables are designed to accommodate 2 to 8 people. Your leather chair is the driver or passenger seat from a Limousine and will have one armrest, recline, and is on wheels. Your waiter or waitress will take your order so you don’t have to miss any of the good parts! Our menu selections currently include beer & wine, soft drinks, and a variety of pub-style food selections. Most theaters will open at least an hour before the movie starts. You may also order throughout the movie.
Is it somehow intrinsically wrong that I really want to go see Wedding Crashers at Chunky’s? This seems like a great idea that would be very popular in theory – so why does one need a sherpa, a Mohican scout and a divining rod in order to get out there?

OK, here is the deal. I live about 15 Min from the Pelham theater. It’s an amazing 6.50 to get in. Pelham, NH has the more popular first run movies; Haverhill seems to cater to family and children and is smaller.
Now for the hoopla. The seats are Leather, fully reclining, free standing on wheels and either Lincoln or Cadillac. A table sits about 12. The menu is pretty even, burgers, wraps, some chicken, steak and pasta entrées. I get the Robert Dinero Burger with American cheese please w/waffle fries. Also, you can order beer by the bucket (buy five get one free!) or a pitcher of domestic draft.
Weekends get there an hour before the movie starts and weekdays about 30-45 min. The only time I don’t like going is when surround sound and a HUGE screen is a must.
Enjoy!

Wedding Crashers… good flick Pyeman. Have a few beers before hand and its even better

When I was living in Dracut, we used to go to the Pelham Chunky’s all the time. I found the food to be horrible, so my friend JR, God Rest his Soul, would hit the Chinese joint next door, then hit the movie about 45 minutes before.
The brew is great, and it is a very cool way to see a flick. I agree with ka-rista, if you need big sound, and big screen, see the movie at a “proper” theatre, but comedies are the perfect movies for this venue. Count me in for Wedding Crashers.

ok a little late but Chunkys kicks ass. Beer while watching a movie and lounging in Lincoln Cont. chairs is the shit, foods okay, but ya know Pelham is pretty out of the way weither your at home or at the red barn
